The Dining Group.
The Dining Group provides a pleasant
social activity which enables
members to meet together over a meal. Meals are arranged on a
monthly
basis, generally to local restaurants or pubs in an attempt to keep
the price within reasonable bounds. If members have difficulty with
transport, usually lifts can be arranged with someone living in their
area. During the Summer months we try to arrange some evening meals to
take advantage of the lighter nights but in Winter we only organise
lunch time meals.
The group is friendly and welcoming and
members have the chance to
meet each other on a social basis and also learn a little about the
food available in our local area. Over time the group will sample
different cuisines from divergent nationalities to possibly broaden
their palate.
Information about venues and dates can be seen
at the main U3A meetings at the 'Dining Group Table' where the bookings
and payments are taken. People are given the menu and costs, make
their selections which are then passed on to the restaurants and they
receive their menu choice back when attending the lunch or dinner.

22nd February (Thursday) at The Alma Lodge Hotel. Meal at 12.30 £15.00 inc. tea/coffee & gratuities.
29th March (Thursday) at L'Ecole Catering College, Heaton Moor. Meal at 12.30
£8.00 inc. tea/coffee and gratuities.
26th April (Thursday) at the Hare & Hounds, Dooley Lane, Marple, near the Wyevale Garden Centre.
Meal at 12.30. 2 Courses £12.00.
24th May (Thursday) at the Moorfield Arms, Mellor. Meal at 12.30.
2 Courses £7.00, 3 Courses £8.00, tea/coffee extra £1.20
28th June (Thursday) 16 people went for an evening meal at Kurt's of Bramhall.
27th September (Thursday) - Lunch at The Waltzing Weasel, New Mills Road, Birch Vale. 2 course meal £8.00 including gratuities. Tea or coffee paid for on the day.
25th October (Thursday) - Lunch at 'Peruga at Woodheys', Glossop Road, Marple Bridge.
2 course meal £9.95, 3 course meal £12.95.
Thursday 28th November - Lunch at L'Ecole Catering College, Heaton Moor. 12.00 for 12.30,
3 course meal £8.00 inc. gratuities.

28th February 2008 (Thursday) - Lunch at the Dome, Buxton College. Numbers limited to 30.
Please note:
There will not be a meal organised by the Dining Group for either December or January.
The Annual Lunch, which we do not organise, will be on January 23rd, £16.50.
