This group started when a very small group of
ladies met to
discuss their work, exchange patterns and generally pass on helpful
tips. There
are now 8 regular members who meet on Thursday
mornings about twice a month.
The
group has completed a tapestry banner, composed of
squares depicting the diverse groups of High Lane U3A and a calendar
represented by flowers appropriate to each month.
We have had quite a lot of
orders for special anniversary cards.
We will be having a sale of greetings cards and small gifts during
the May general meeting. These will include coasters, small pictures,
key rings, bracelets and even a cushion (cover donated, and made up by
Sonia).
As well as meeting regularly at each others' houses we enjoy having
outings e.g. to Bakewell to the Embroidery shop there and to the
Handicrafts Exhibition at G-Mex.
We had a very successful sale of
Christmas cards in November, raising £55 for our funds, which we
shall no doubt spend when we visit the needlecraft exhibition at the
beginning of February. We enjoyed a tasty and inexpensive Christmas
dinner at the Dog and Partridge on 11th December before taking our
Christmas and New year break. We shall next meet up in February.
