Needlework Group
This group started when a very small group of
ladies met to
discuss their work, exchange patterns and generally pass on helpful
tips. There
are now 8 regular members who meet about twice a month.
At the November 2006
meeting we sold Christmas cards.
Here you can see just a small selection of what was on offer.
In the past two years we have completed a tapestry banner, composed of
squares depicting the diverse groups of High Lane U3A and a calendar
represented by flowers appropriate to each month.
We were asked to make an embroidered picture
to be
raffled on the High Lane Day on July 9th, organised by the Residents'
Association,
and one of our members completed this.
We also exhibited some of our work.
We have had quite a lot of
orders for special anniversary cards this summer but hope that the rush
is now over, so we can concentrate on Christmas Cards.
As well as meeting regularly at each others' houses we enjoy having
outings e.g. to Bakewell to the Embroidery shop there and to the
Handicrafts Exhibition at G-Mex.
Anyone wishing to join us can contact me at w.brookes1@ntlworld.com
We meet on Thursday mornings about twice a month.
